Description:

This course option is led by a PALS and BLS Instructor in a classroom setting.

The PALS course uses precourse preparation, didactic instruction, and active participation in learning stations and simulated cases to enhance the recognition and intervention of respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest.

Audience:

The BLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, as well as individuals enrolled in a healthcare training program. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion eCard, valid for two years. 

PALS is intended for healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units that encounter pediatric patients on a regular basis. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion eCard, valid for two years.

Mandatory Prior to Class:

• PALS Prework, located at https://shopcpr.heart.org/pals-video-precourse-work. If you cannot print your completion certificate for the course, send a screenshot to PALSProgram@childrensnational.org. Those without a copy of the prework completion certificate will not be permitted to stay and will need to reschedule. Students must complete all three parts- the pretest, the videos, and the survey. At the completion of all three, you will be able to obtain the completion certificate.

Students who arrive more than 15 minutes beyond the start of the course will not be permitted to stay. Students who are running late should call 202-476-4654 on the day of the course.
